About Us
Caasimadda Online (The Capital Online) is a non-profit Online Somali Media. It publishes news and features about Somali people in the country and around the world.
Caasimadda Online was established on October 3 2009 by a group of Somali journalists in Europe and north America and after it’s first programs now it has the confidence and popularity among the public.
Objectives
As an Online Media our role is to enable the public to make well-informed by publishing news and features based on accuracy and impartiality, entertaining and educating the public through useful programs.
Caasimadda Online is dedicated to take every step that makes possible getting lasting peace and democracy back into Somalia and discourages human rights abuses in the country and to ensure this we will:
• Encourages reconciliation among the society and widely involvement of civil society in to the country’s leadership.
• Promote laws that keep an eye on and ensure that media are not used to undermine democracy and individual freedom, violate human rights, or inflame violent conflict.
• Enlarge independent organizations to keep track of rumors circulating in the country that might incite conflict, and then use media to refute them and spread the truth as widely as possible.
Accuracy
Accuracy lays the heart of Caasimadda Online. Caasimadda Online is committed to accuracy and that is fundamental to our reputation. Our output must be well sourced, based on evidences, thoroughly tested and presented in clear, clear-cut language, before it goes to the Online.
We should be honest and open about what we don’t know and avoid unfounded speculations and rumors.
For Caasimadda Online accuracy is more important than speed and it is often more than a question of getting the facts right. We won’t concentrate to be the first who reports the news but instead the first to report the accuracy.
Neutrality and impartiality
In these circumstances neutrality is a key to avoid siding with any political group in the country and Caasimadda Online adopts the neutral point of view policy which has been key behind the success of this Organization. All opinions and beliefs have to be attributed to their adherents; all factual claims have to be sourced.
Caasimadda Online will not engage in political advocacy; unlike some other Somali Media Organizations, it will not endorse any political group, for example. An article which is not neutral at the time of final review should either be fixed or not be published
Original reporting
Our vision is not just a news summary service, but a source of original reporting, we put together as our third requirement for Caasimadda Online that there will be at least two types of reports:
• Summaries from external sources
• Reports by Caasimadda Online reporters (based on first-hand experiences or on interviews and research)
In this context, we also set up one key code that any Caasimadda Online implementation must follow: to make available to the reader all the knowledge which we ourselves have, that is, to fully cite our sources, with the exception of sources which are anonymized for their protection.
Participatory Journalism
Caasimadda Online promotes the idea of participatory journalism because of the belief that citizens know what news like no others is. You are invited to join in this effort, and share articles that are of interest to you.
All Caasimadda Online articles are created by everyday people just like you, from around the globe and for Caasimadda Online it believes that it comes from the people to the people.

Caasimadda Online has correspondents in every the 18 Somali provinces and at least every continent around the globe. Notable countries we have reporters are those witch Somali people are very populated like:
